While the Order of Protection is not an absolute protection against violence, it certainly helps. The police will have a copy of the Order of Protection and will be able to assist you in enforcing the order. Further, violation of an Order of Protection is a crime.
When can I get a Protection Order?
You can get a Protection Order if you are a victim of domestic or family violence, a sexual offense, or stalking. Also, a parent or guardian can file a petition for a Protection Order for a child.
